Course Overview

This one-day Top Rope Rigging Workshop takes place in the stunning Peak District and is tailored for climbers, instructors, and outdoor professionals wanting to deepen their understanding of rope systems. You’ll learn how to assess anchors, build efficient and redundant rigging systems, and apply critical thinking to real-world scenarios.


Led by experienced instructors, the day will include hands-on practice with a variety of rigging techniques, discussions around best practice and safety, and a chance to ask questions in a supportive learning environment. Whether you're prepping for assessments or looking to upskill for personal adventures, this workshop provides practical, transferable knowledge you can rely on.

No prior rigging experience is necessary, though a basic familiarity with climbing and belaying is beneficial. Come ready to learn, question, and gain hands-on rigging experience in one of the UK’s most iconic climbing areas. 


This course would be a good course for those potentially who have completed our 2 day 'Beginner Climbing Course' alternatively it is completely suitable for someone who doesn't climb and is looking to be able to learn skills to take friends/family out climbing.

Course Outcomes

Course Information

  • We provide all technical equipment including harness, helmet and rock shoes
  • Clothing suited to the weather (waterproofs, warm tops, etc)
  • Good comfortable footwear for walking to the crag
  • A good supply of snacks and a drink
  • Sun cream, hat and sunglasses (you just never know!)
  • If you have your own harness or a shiny piece of climbing kit bring it and we will help you use it appropriately

  • There are a range of simple adaptions we can make to our scheduled courses such as choosing venues with minimal walking or easy access to toilet facilities, providing cold storage facilities for temperature sensitive medications, allowing additional time or arranging for participants to be accompanied by a trusted aide.

  • When participation as part of an open group isn't appropriate we can arrange private tuition. This allows for a more tailored approach and a much wider range of adaptions such as assisted climbing and abseiling techniques for participants with significant physical or mobility issues.

  • If private tuition is unaffordable then we can sometimes offer subsidised places to bring the price back in line with our scheduled courses .These are provided by the Pure Outdoor Foundation whose goal is to bring as many people as possible into the outdoors, please enquire about availability.


  • Clear communication before the activity is crucial so, as well as telephone and email conversations, we can also arrange to meet participants directly at a venue days or weeks beforehand to identify any specific barriers and begin addressing any anxieties.
