Our Story

Born in Alaska - Grown in the Peak District

"The first vision and concept of Pure Outdoor goes back to 2011 on expedition in Alaska with Guy, Neil and Chris that resulted in the first ascent of ‘Sourdough Suicide’ on Mt Geist. With many days spent waiting for weather windows and dreaming big - sketching notes and doodling ideas. Upon our return I could just make out a few notes on some of our scraps of paper. It was a business plan and it was simple. “Climb more, Work less, Have fun”. It hold’s true to this day. We wanted to do a better job. To design an outdoor company to educate and inspire and to share our passion. We wanted to be out there doing, learning and experiencing!

Little did we know, the adventure was yet to begin…."

Since 2006, Pure Outdoor Ltd. provide UK and Overseas Hillwalking, Navigation, Rock Climbing, Caving, First Aid, Winter Skills, Mountain Guiding, Corporate Training and Group Events from our base in the village of Bamford in the Peak District.

We boast excellent facilities on our Peak District courses from our dedicated outdoor training centre which provides a unique facility for all customers to enjoy. Our aim is to provide high quality, low instructor/client ratio courses which are accessible to all.

We welcome a lot of our work from returning customers year after year and we think by building friendly relationships with our clients we can keep our 100% happy customer quota. If you like the course, maybe you will come on another one. If you don't like the style in which it is carried out - let us know and we can change things. We like to keep things casual and flexible, this is reflected in the relaxed nature of all courses offered here at Pure Outdoor.

We carefully hand-pick the people who work with us and we are lucky enough to use several highly competent and extremely well trained and experienced instructors.
