Outdoor Activities for Schools and Youth Groups

Activities for Schools and Youth Groups

Since 2006 Pure Outdoor has provided outdoor activities for schools and youth groups from across the country. You can be assured that all staff are experienced, qualified and hold current DBS checks where necessary. We offer a range of outdoor activities and services for Secondary and Primary schools which include all of our activities that can be seen on the ‘Activity’ part of this site.

These activities can be run as single days or even full 'residentials' when booked alongside some local accommodation. We can work with whole year groups or smaller groups working towards specific goals. Some example activities include GCSE PE (Climbing), activity days for groups of all sizes, staff team building experiences and in school problem solving days.

As a reference, Pure Outdoor Ltd is AALA certified (License R2331), holds full public liability insurance, comprehensive risk assessments and all instructors are qualified with ongoing training and CPD. On all of our activities we provide full safety and technical equipment.

Frequently asked questions

Do you work with schools and youth groups?
Yes, since 2006. We run single days and residentials for primary and secondary schools and youth groups, including GCSE PE climbing, activity days, staff team building and in-school problem-solving days.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. Pure Outdoor holds an AALA licence (R2331), public liability insurance up to £10 million, professional indemnity and employers' liability insurance. These are audited annually, along with our risk assessments and operating procedures, which are available on request.
Are your instructors qualified?
Yes. Our staff hold the relevant national governing body qualification or equivalent, have excellent local knowledge and take part in an annual training programme and ongoing CPD. Staff working with schools and young people hold current DBS checks where needed.
Are outdoor activities safe?
We manage risk carefully with qualified staff, full safety equipment, risk assessments and operating procedures, but outdoor activities carry inherent risks that can't be removed entirely. We'll explain the risks and how we manage them, and ask everyone to follow the safety guidance given.
What are the age limits?
From 13 years old, you can book onto our standard courses open to the public. Children aged 4-12 can take part through private bookings or tuition, with or without parents, by arrangement with our team. We're licensed by the Adventure Activities Licensing Service to work with under 18s.
Do you need to know about medical conditions?
Yes. Please tell us about any medical condition or injury when you book, and let your instructor know on the first day. It's kept confidential, and it lets us tailor activities to you and keep the group safe.
Where can I stay nearby?
There's lots of choice within a few miles: B&Bs and a leisure hotel in Bamford, a campsite right next to The Adventure Hub, the YHA, inns and cottages in Hathersage, and more options in Hope, Bradwell, Castleton and Edale. See our Accommodation Guide for details and links.
Can you run a course that isn't on the website?
Yes, that's something we specialise in. Get in touch with what you want to achieve and we'll tailor an itinerary to suit your requirements.
