Getting to The Adventure Hub Without a Car

You don't need a car to come on a course with us. The Adventure Hub, our training centre in Bamford, sits in the middle of the Hope Valley, right on the railway line between Sheffield and Manchester. Plenty of our customers arrive by train, and it's a lovely way to start a day in the hills.
By train
Our nearest station is Bamford, on the Hope Valley line between Sheffield and Manchester Piccadilly. From the station it's about a 10-minute walk to The Adventure Hub: head over Mytham Bridge, turn right at the end of the road and you'll see us on the right.
The journey is roughly 20 minutes from Sheffield and around an hour from Manchester. Trains are generally hourly, so check the times for your day on National Rail before you travel, and allow a little extra time so you're not rushing on the morning of your course.
Neighbouring Hope station is also nearby, and Hathersage and Edale are on the same line, which makes the Hope Valley a brilliant car-free base for a weekend.
By bus
The nearest bus stop is Shatton Lane. Local services run through the Hope Valley between Castleton, Hope, Bamford and Hathersage. Use Traveline to plan your journey.
Coming from further afield
Sheffield and Manchester both have good national rail links, so you can get to the Peak District by train from most of the country and change onto the Hope Valley line. If you're staying over, see our Peak District accommodation guide for places to stay within easy reach of the station.
Do I need a car during the course?
No. Our courses start and finish at The Adventure Hub, and we drive you to the crag, cave or hill in our minibus. Just let us know when you book if you're arriving by train, and we'll make sure you're looked after.
Driving instead?
If you are coming by car, our how to find us page has directions, parking details and sat nav coordinates (the postcode on its own won't take you to the door).
Make a day of it
Arriving early or staying on? The Adventure Hub has a bouldering wall and an outdoor kit shop, our neighbours at The Bike Garage hire mountain bikes, and the villages of Bamford, Hope, Hathersage and Castleton are all close by for a pub meal or a brew. See our local's guide to things to do in the Peak District for more ideas.
