Course Information

YOUR ROCK CLIMBING TASTER SESSION

Get ready to have a great introductory session to rock climbing on a glorious gritstone crag.

ARRIVE AT THE ADVENTURE HUB

Your instructor will welcome you and discuss the aims of the course and your own aspirations over a great cup of fresh Italian coffee or tea.

COLLECT AND CHECK YOUR EQUIPMENT

You will be sized up for helmets, rock shoes and harnesses. All you need do is check you have snacks, a drink  and clothing that is suitable for the conditions.

TRAVEL TO CLIMB LOCATION

The exact location will depend on the weather and the aims and abilities of the group. Typically this is a 15 minute drive from the Adventure Hub. For those that are just joining the morning session on a full day course we usually ask you to drive to the venue in your own transport to enable you to get away easily at lunch time.

PRACTICAL CLIMBING SESSION

Your instructor will demonstrate and explain the basics of the safety system and give you a chance to practise tying in and belaying each other. You will then be shown and coached on different key climbing techniques as you scale a number of routes throughout the morning all whilst gaining confidence and experience with the rope systems.

END OF THE SESSION

At the end of the session the instructor will recap your session and answer any questions. At this point you are free to explore the peak district. Feel free to pick the instructors brains for suitable walks in the area.
