Become a Qualified Cave Leader
The Local Cave Mine Leader Award (LCMLA) is an accreditation scheme for those leading groups in UK caves and abandoned mines. The LCMLA scheme is nationally administered by the British Caving Association. Level 1 is appropriate for leaders working in horizontal cave/mine systems and Level 2 for those who lead groups in caves and mines with vertical pitches.
These LCMLA training courses are offered by Phil Baker (national Trainer/Assessor for all BCA awards). Assessments are organised by arrangement. Please get in touch if you are interested in assessment dates as these can be offered but need to be arranged individually.
This is a two-day course based in the Peak District which looks at all aspects of the syllabus for modules one and two of the scheme.
Please note that two day courses can only cover caves. For those wishing to add mines training it is possible to extend the course (at another agreed date) to include mines.
Candidates are required to register with the BCA prior to the course. Details of registration are at: www.british-caving.org.uk.
If necessary it is possible to travel up to the course on a weekend by getting an early train on Saturday morning - more info on our FAQ.
