Summary:

You may have got a taste for the wild winter action available on our Scottish Winter Skills courses during previous years - well its time to dust off the ice axe and crampons and take them on the perculiarly amazing adventure to the High Atlas Mountains of North Africa.

A short flight away, possibly more convenient than getting up to Scotland and with a side salad of culture this trip is unmissable and unforgettable. The Toubkal area is scattered with infrequented 4000m peaks and small mountain huts that provide us with basic but homely places to stay during a week of trekking, mountaineering and consolidating all winter skills.

At only £880 this trip includes all guiding, accommodation, food and transport on the trek itself. All you need to do is book the flights (below) and then prepare yourself for a hassle free trekking holiday. You need to have some reasonable warm kit including a warm sleeping bag for this trip on top of your standard walking kit and some good, sturdy, stiff boots that we can attach crampons to, but other than that - pack your suncream and get ready for an African mountain adventure!

You may have attended our summer Jebel Toubkal (4162m) trip before or been on other courses, this is slightly different. Aimed to be the next step for international trekkers or for those who have attended the winter course in Scotland we are running this course at a 1:6 ratio.

Guy Wilson, the Pure Outdoor founder and trek leader wrote an article on this expedition for Trek and Mountain Magazine, have a read of it here for some inspiration!

Some of the mountains we will attempt: Aguelzim (3650m), Jebel Toubkal (4162m), Raz (4083m) and Timesguida n-Ouanoukrim (4088m).

Trip Notes:

As most of our work is based in the UK and we keep our international trips to a small scale to keep the quality high, Pure Outdoor Ltd. is not set up as a large scale tour operator. The price you see is the total cost, we do not book flights on behalf of clients and we ask clients to pay some upfront to us - the guiding costs and some upon arrival in local currency. This is paid directly from the client to the local suppliers and prevents us from holding large sums of your money. The advertised prices are inclusive of guiding, accommodation, food and travel to make budgeting easier. Upon booking you will receive a breakdown of how costs are due to be paid.

Pre-Requisites:

It would be beneficial if you had attended a winter skills course in Scotland prior to this expedition. However if you have not then we can certainly cover the essentials during the course as we are using a 1:6 ratio.
