Location: Costa Blanca
Duration: 4 days instruction, add on more days if you would like to enjoy a break afterwards.
Flights: to Alicante or Murcia from most UK airports (from £40-£140 return)
Time of year: November-December (outside of our UK climbing months)
Experience: No previous climbing experience necessary. We can deliver courses here from beginner climbing through to learn to lead courses.
Trip Type: We are currenlty only delivering this trip for mini-groups of 2 people so we are not running this trip as a public course. The ratio is 1:2 for this course. Minimum booking is for 2 participants.
In country travel: Transport within the country is provided and you will be met/collected from the airport and taken to the accommodation by your instructor.
Accommodation: We stay at 'Casa Roc' in basic climbers style accommodation: http://sella-alicante.co.uk/roc-house/
Food and Drink: Self Catering, supplies are picked up from local supermarkets or can be brought out from the UK.
Costs: The cost does not include your flights from the UK but does include accommodation, transport, equipment hire and guiding in Spain. As the courses are effectively a private booking for 2 people, quite often the trip could be tweaked or extended to suit.
Based on a 4 day, 3 night course - you can climb on the same day as you travel in most cases.
If you compare these prices to our Peak District rates you may be pleasantly surprised as bear in mind these costs include your accommodation and food.
Instructors/Guides: MIA instructors deliver this course and have a great deal of experience climbing in the area with plenty of local knowledge about the best climbing areas.
The Climbing:
So why Costa Blanca? Basically it is a fantastic autumn and winter getaway, an opportunity to learn some skills and get familiar with climbing during the british winter months. For those of you who want to get stuck into some activity in the winter and dont fancy joining Pure Outdoor in Scotland then this could be right up your street.
The Spanish coastline is home to lots of amazing limestone sport climbing, we find the Costa Blanca to be pleasantly quiet, accessible and great value. There is heaps of climbing at ameanable grades for beginner and intermediate climbers - not to mention the jedi's. The climbing in this area is predominantly 'sport climbing' which means that the routes have fixed protection bolted into the rock- similar to climbing/leading routes indoors. We can provide preperation courses in the Peak District for those starting completely from scratch.
