Summary:

The Himalayan peaks of Northern India are a magnificent expedition destination. Stunning mountains, welcoming people and amazing culture. Nestled in the heart of the range is a jewel of a peak.

Technically straightforward yet interesting to climb, in a stunning location with views into Pakistan’s Karakoram range and the Zanskar mountains and still within the grasp of those new to Himalayan climbing – 6153 metre Stok Kangri couldn’t be better.

Our 2015 expedition will ascend Stok Kangri, explore Leh (the stunning capital of Ladakh), visit the breathtaking Taj Mahal and experience the sights and sounds of India’s unique capital city, Delhi.

To be suitable for this expedition you simply need a good level of fitness and a sense of adventure.

This expedition includes a UK training weekend to give you the necessary technical skills and additional training will be provided once we arrive in India. Our expeditions are competitively priced but we also want you to have a good standard of living during your expedition. The mountaineering phase is fully catered, the hotels and guesthouses will be simple yet comfortable and the food will be plentiful local fare. Having said that, this is a mountaineering expedition to a developing country so you’ll also need to be willing to go without a few luxuries along the way.

Trip Notes:

As most of our work is based in the UK and we keep our international trips to a small scale to keep the quality high, Pure Outdoor Ltd. is not set up as a large scale tour operator. The price you see is the total cost, we do not book flights on behalf of clients and we ask clients to pay some upfront to us - the guiding costs and some upon arrival in local currency. This is paid directly from the client to the local suppliers and prevents us from holding large sums of your money. The advertised prices are inclusive of guiding, accommodation, food and travel to make budgeting easier. Upon booking you will receive a breakdown of how costs are due to be paid.

Equipment Required:

We know expeditions of this type are expensive so we try to minimise additional expenditure. Tents are provided, boots can be hired and ice axes, crampons and helmets are included in the price. The clothing you wear can be mostly your normal hillwalking kit and there isn’t much else.

The only thing you’ll want to make sure is that your sleeping bag is cosy and it is worth having a toasty warm duvet for the summit day and star gazing with a mug of hot chocolate at base camp. Inevitably there’ll be a few other bits and bobs and we’ll give you plenty of guidance – but don’t feel you’ve got to come prepared for an ascent of Everest!
