Course Information

YOUR INTRODUCTION TO BIKEPACKING COURSE

DAY ONE

9:30 - BEDTIME

ARRIVE AT THE ADVENTURE HUB

In the morning you'll meet your instructor at the Adventure Hub and, over coffee, you'll talk briefly about the aims of the course and your own aspirations. You will move on quickly to cover the key skills and knowledge you need before you head out: what kit to take, how to pack the bike, basic trailside maintenance and route planning.

RIDE OUT

You'll then head out into the Peak District at a gentle pace with plenty of stops - you'll spend the day riding off-road, going through skills and techniques before finishing up at a beautiful secluded wild-camp spot in plenty of time to set up before it gets dark.

DAY TWO

BREAKFAST - 16:30

RIDE BACK

After you've enjoyed a night sleeping under the stars, you'll pack up and slowly cycle back, enjoying the scenic views of the National Park along the way. There will be time to cover any other skills that you want to learn about and you can choose from easy or more challenging routes back! You’ll probably stop at a cafe in the early afternoon before arriving back at base, where you'll unpack and get the chance to ask any final advice and tips. After that you're free to head home or carry on exploring!

You will need a well serviced and suitable mountain bike (and helmet). Bike hire options are available from £55 for 2 days. We'll provide all the bikepacking luggage to strap to your bike as part of the course.

You'll also need lightweight camping equipment. Those used to backpacking with a 60-70l rucksack should have most of the relevant kit. If required we can hire you everything you need so that you'll just have to turn up with a sleeping bag and suitable clothes. Please arrange this with us prior to the course.

However if you're unsure about anything, bring it anyway because we'll be discussing kit choices at the start of the course and will have a spares to hire out on the day if necessary.
