Neil and I went up the hill today to check out the ice condition of Kinder Downfall. It was a sweaty walk in with temperatures obviously being a little warm for these sort of activities....still we had come this far across the Peak so thought it would be worth a look. The good news is that is was pretty good - it was wet, very wet with lots of rotten ice, some fat chewy ice and lots of water. It did give some pleasant climbing until the final step/pitch which was pretty much a waterfall (needed to move quick). Who needs Cogne? Good work Neil leading the top slush pitch.
If it gets cold again sharpish it will stay where it is....everything was pretty warm by the time we left today.
On a more colder note, our Scottish Winter continues tomorrow with our Winter Skills Courses starting in Aviemore. Looking forward to meeting everyone on this weekends adventures!
