Summary
Our intermediate level course is suited to riders who have done a reasonable amount of riding on bridleways and forest tracks and want to move on to more challenging terrain. The rides we undertake will be on technical terrain with plenty of adventurous features to hone your skills! Rides will be selected to match the fitness levels within the group but will usually be around 25-30km in length.
Skills covered will include
- Developing correct body position for technical climbs and descents
- Climbing techniques for open climbs and technical terrain
- Descending techniques for open terrain and steep technical terrain
- How to control speed and pick suitable lines through difficult terrain.
- Cornering confidently and in control.
- Tackling difficult trail obstacles.
- Selecting suitable routes and essential navigation techniques.
By the end of this course you will feel confident to try just about anything the British Isles can throw at you – enjoy!

This course is non-residential, so if you do not live locally, you may need to arrange your own accommodation.
We have tried to make some good links with local B&B's, Guesthouses and Campsites to give you comprehensive choice when booking accommodation to coincide with your Pure Outdoor course.
This section has been broken down into two sections. Those travelling up on Public Transport and staying in the Hathersage area (we recommend this as it has a direct rail link with Sheffield and Manchester and your course instructor can come pick you up on the morning of the course) and a section for those of you who will be driving up to the course who have a little more freedom.
The Pure Outdoor Training centre is about 4 miles from Hathersage and Bakewell and only a mile or so from the villages of Eyam and Calver.

The Peak District Training Centre
We are based at the Rock Mill Business park which is immediately on the A623 between Sheffield/Chesterfield and Manchester. The centre is within 15 minutes drive from Sheffield and Chesterfield and can be reached in 30 minutes from Manchester.?If you are coming from Sheffield/Chesterfield Direction, drive through the village of Stoney Middleton, when you exit the village the business park is on the left after a few hundred metres. The office is in Unit 3 and can be found in the tallest building at the business park.

Start and Finish Times
The Training Centre will be open from 9am for those wanting to come in, look around and help themselves to refreshments (tea, coffee etc.). The course will commence at 9:30am. The courses generally finish at approximately 4.30pm.
Local Accommodation (If required)
There are many different options for accommodation in the local area. Here we have listed two main options. Those who have their own transport and for those who are using public transport.

We pride ourselves on the accessibility of all courses. For those of you wishing to use public transport, Manchester and Sheffield stations connect to Hathersage in the Peak District, which is a short train ride away. Hathersage boasts a broad range of accommodation from camping, youth hostel to B&Bs and Hotels. We are more than happy to pick you if you are using public transport and take you to/from the training centre. Transport:
For those arriving by car, there is ample car parking at the training centre. Many courses run directly from the centre and some are a short drive away. Most of the time you can leave your vehicle at the centre for the day. For those arriving by train, we are more than happy to pick you up from your accommodation and drop you off at the end of the day. Please be in touch if this is necessary so we can book it in.
