Outline Whether you are looking at getting off the beaten track onto exposed mountain ridges, complex rock faces or tricky rocky lines running up mountains, scrambling provides you with the perfect next step from hillwalking. Delve into it as deep as you want, leave your boots on but start using your hands and feet to climb over rock. Gives you a good chance to develop new skills and start to practice some easy rock climbing moves. Some of the famous classics around the UK get you to travel into some of the most amazing and beautiful places in the country. Whether you are battling with the vertical vice on 'The Chasm Face' in North Wales or traversing the Aonach Eagach ridge in Scotland, scrambling provides stunning days out on the hills.
Itinerary The 2 day course will be practically based and the focus will be on you getting some mileage on the rock. We will meet at 9am in a local café and we will be finished by 4-5pm. The route choice will depend on your ability, experience, weather and courage! Lets have a look in a guidebook before we go, make some good choices and get stuck in.
Learning Objectives This is a guided weekend, giving you the opportunity to try scrambling. However we like to turn everything into a learning process, allowing you to walk away feeling more confident. Sometimes we will look at uses of the rope, movement skills, routefinding and mountaineering skills.
